How to Drive Traffic Online Organically in 2014

By Sean Mize Copyright © 2013

As we move into 2014, we are seeing changes in the effective ways to drive traffic organically. Folks are likely finding that the old methods of building pages and driving lots of inbound links to them are just not working anymore. Spamming the search engines or driving fake traffic and creating fake social engagement just isn't cutting it anymore.

The search engines want real content with real traffic and real social involvement. And the good thing is, because this isn't the easiest thing to do (although you will see in a few moments, I will show you that it can be done simply and easily - but it does take some work, which filters out much of your competition), I believe that there is literally less competition in the search engines than there used to be. I know that sounds crazy, but a few years ago, someone could slap up unuseful content, drive a bunch of links, and Google would show that page in their results.

Not anymore. So this means that YOU can focus on creating genuine content that really delivers value and punch to your prospects, and to people online looking for the kind of solution you provide, and have a better chance of the search engines featuring you.

In fact, it is my belief that for just about any medium-tailed keyword phrase, you can get into the top ten page in Google and the other search engines very quickly.

Here are a few ways to do that:

1) Write high quality articles. Write articles that really teach something unique, not the same old, same old. Write articles that shed new light on your issue, introduce something new, or even just feature your opinion. Your article should show that you know what you are talking about, and that the reader can trust you to deliver what she needs.

2) Record videos on the same topics as your articles, and link to your videos in your articles. Use YouTube. Google particularly favors YouTube in their search results. Now, one of the keys with YouTube seems to be user engagement and genuine views, so focus on building up a tribe of subscribers who will watch your new videos. When Google sees the videos being watched, they seem to be more likely to feature your video in their search results.

3) Find innovative ways in your niche to network with other websites and get them to feature your content. A few good places are Pinterest, Facebook, g+, and other places like that. By building up a presence on Pinterest, Facebook, or G+ and integrating your articles and videos on those sites, you should see an increase in your exposure organically.

4) Last, but NOT least: build up a content presence on your own website. This content presence should aggressively be built out to be comprehensive in your niche, and I believe it should also aggressively feature your YouTube videos as well.
